Firmware update 2.0: a new level of quality in thermal imaging

Firmware update 2.0: a new level of quality in thermal imaging

Thanks to your comments, we have fixed the firmware update 2.0 by eliminating the bugs that were causing some disturbance. The update is now live and available for you to download it. Thank you for your feedback and patience.

Yukon Advanced Optics Worldwide introduces updated firmware version 2.0 bringing more detail and accuracy in thermal imaging to the following Pulsar devices: the Axion 2 XG35 and the Axion 2 LRF XG35 thermal monoculars, the Thermion 2 XP50 Pro and the Thermion 2 LRF XP50 Pro thermal riflescopes as well as the Merger LRF XP50 thermal binoculars which are manufactured based on the latest firmware version.

Upgraded algorithms for a more informative image

With improved image quality and upgraded image processing algorithms, the firmware 2.0 reaches a new level of thermal imaging detail, sharpness and contrast.

Firmware algorithms detect and process images. As a result, the thermal imager has the capability to clearly display complex scenes with evenly emitting low-contrast objects, such as the sky, grass or water surfaces, in a wide range of halftones. The enhanced detail and software that sharpens objects at different distances, renders a highly informative thermal image.

Three sensitivity levels for long-range detection accuracy

The recent firmware update offers a new feature – a selection of three sensitivity amplification levels for quality detection and recognition of a target under various observation conditions. It replaces the previously used observation modes (Rocks / Forest / Identification, etc.).

Sensitivity enhancement levels – Normal, High and Ultra – are software algorithms that allow the hunter to easily adapt to ever-changing weather and temperature conditions and increase the accuracy of long-range detection.

When the temperature contrast decreases (e.g., fog, precipitation, high humidity), simply increase the amplification level. With the combination of the new filtration algorithms with fine brightness and contrast adjustments, the amplification setting proves to be extremely useful when defining an animal’s trophy features and ensures clear rendering of objects and backgrounds in the field of view.

Exciting new optimized video recording for high-quality content

Preserve your best hunting moments as high-quality video recordings with the new firmware 2.0.

A new feature enabling control of video compression by simply turning it ON or OFF, was already present in our Thermion 2 LRF XP50 Pro line and with the Merger LRF XP50. By updating the firmware, this feature will be available for the remaining mentioned devices as well.

The ON mode results in faster transfer of smaller files and higher quality of the video compared with the previous firmware version.

The OFF button turns the compression off and significantly improves the quality and detail of video files. The new algorithms enable reducing the file size by several times without affecting the video quality.

Moreover, newly implemented algorithms enable eliminating sound distortions.

New graphic elements for enhanced user interface

To improve the perception of graphic information on the display, a translucent substrate has been added when displaying the following information:

  • Results of distance measurements (relevant for devices with a built-in laser rangefinder);
  • Side incline level (relevant for the Thermion 2 LRF XP50 Pro).

How to update the firmware?

Install Stream Vision 2, a free mobile application available on Google Play or the AppStore. Connect your smartphone to the thermal imaging unit using WiFi and update the firmware.

More information on the current firmware versions of Pulsar digital and thermal imaging devices is available on the “Check Your Firmware” page.

Take a look at this video for a detailed explanation on how to effectively use the 3 sensitivity amplification levels – Normal, High, Ultra.
